FCC to Vote On Robocall, Text Proposal at June 18 Meeting
Sharon Edmondson, Washington Legislative Team Member | June 10, 2015
On June 18 the FTC will vote, at its open meeting, on a proposal aimed at curbing the number of automated calls and automated texts consumers receive on their wireless and wireline phones. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is proposing a set of options that will close loopholes and strengthen consumer protections and will address two dozen petitions asking the FTC to clarify its enforcement of the TCPA.
Under the proposal, wireless and wireline phone carriers could offer robocall-blocking technologies to subscribers. A copy of the FTC fact sheet can be downloaded here.
